  • This is a PDF knitting pattern.

This beautiful fingering weight shawl is knitted with two colors of fingering weight yarn. Bands of twisted stitches are combined with a smocked rib stitch for a crisp and delicate texture throughout the fabric. The twisted rib border features a wavy motif flowing into a picot bind off. Explore semi-solids yarns and splashy speckles like Qing Fibre Yak Singles. The smooth silk content yields the most luscious drape to the fabric with a soft sheen.

  • Finished Measurements

56″ / 142cm wingspan length, 23″ / 58cm measured along the center of the shawl. Measurements taken after blocking.

    Yardage

    Approximately 880yds / 804m total
    Color A - 450yds / 411m
    Color B - 430yds / 393m

These yardage estimations are based on the gauge with 24 sts & 32 rows = 4″ / 10cm in twisted ribbing using Qing Fibre Yak singles. This yarn comes in 120g skeins with very generous yardage. This single ply yarn is also very smooth and feels slightly thinner than standard fingering weight yarns because of the smooth silk content.

If you are using a standard fingering weight yarn like Life in the Long Grass Singles (400yds / 366m per 100g skein), or Qing Fibre Dashing Sassy (437yds / 400m per 100g skein), it’s possible you may need a bit more yardage of each color; I recommend having 2 skeins of each color, just to be safe, if you are using yarn that is standard fingering weight in 100g skeins.
