    Gather five colors of fingering weight yarn and arrange them from light to dark to knit this mesmerizing color-fade shawl pattern. The first section begins with dip stitches that look like little waves or scales of a mermaid tail. Once the dip stitch section is completed, stitches are picked up from one edge as you decrease toward the top center of the shawl. Then stitches are picked up along the other edge of the dip stitch section as you continue to fade your colors toward the wavy border of the shawl. This pattern includes a video tutorial demonstrating the dip stitch technique along with detailed instructions for how to fade your five colors together.
